Vancouver is Top Gay/Lesbian Destination

While South Carolina officials won't have anything to do with gay and lesbian travelers, the city of Vancouver is actively courting them. From canada.com:

For the second year in a row, Vancouver has been named the number one gay and lesbian leisure destination in Canada.

Tourism Vancouver wants to build on the survey results by launching an advertising campaign in Curve, the best-selling lesbian magazine in North America. It also wants city council to help cover the cost of advertising in the magazine, in hopes of strengthening the city's position within the lesbian tourism market.

That's quite a contrast to how those silly officials in South Carolina are acting, no? It's not surprising really that Vancouver is doing this given its multi-cultural make-up and history of openness and tolerance. Good for you, Vancouver.

Apparently Las Vegas, the modern day Sodom, doesn't mind being described as so gay since it didn't protest about the poster below.

Canada's Gay Summer Camp

A summer camp for gays, lesbians, and transgendered young people? Why not, it sounds like a swell idea. Some good guys/gals in Edmonton started it and it seems like the idea is spreading to other Canadian cities and provinces. From canada.com:

An Edmonton summer camp for gay, lesbian and transgendered youth has inspired a national movement to offer leadership training and a safe haven for their counterparts across the country.

Two new camps - one in Ottawa and one in British Columbia - are planned for the summer of 2009 following the success of Camp fYerfly, which hosted its largest camp to date July 24 to 27.
